St. Michael of Washington??
Has anyone else seen the wonderful AP photograph of Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff? Here's the link from Yahoo News. He looks like a dyspeptic Russian icon...
What we have here are two (I checked) really talented news photographers: Kevin Wolf of AP and Jim Young of Reuters. Kevin Wolf's photo is the one I bookmarked, and I believe it's the superior effort.
Both of these gentlemen spotted the opportunity for a great visual pun offered by Chertoff's stance directly under the domed ceiling, with its radiating ribs, at Ronald Reagan National Airport. Both pix were taken from ground level or close to it (an angle my knees no longer allow me to shoot from).
I wonder if Chertoff will choose his interviewing positions a little more carefully henceforth??
Cool. Thanks for the info, hedera. Gotta love these photographers. They saw an absurdist moment and took it, the Merry Punsters. They will probably not be allowed within 50 feet of Chertoff in the future, unless he misses the pun and thinks it's an appropriate iconization (it's a word now)
Yeah,
ReplyDeleteI was thinking absudist Constantinian.

Damn, make that absurdist, although maybe absudist somehow applies, suggesting utter nonsense.
ReplyDeleteSheese, where is the man's PR manager. He looks like something straight out of 1984.
